Do you know what a 'Weight Set Point Is?'

Do you know what a set point is?  It is a figure that your subconscious has created from your experiences and it refers to weight and money.  These two set points work in different ways though.  the money one wont let you earn more and the weight one wont let you weight loss - so they work the other way around but are basically stopping you doing what you want!

When I was in software contracting I earned a lot of money.  But when I looked over my accounts and compared the years, I virtually earned the same amount - despite time off in between contracts and different rates.  Why is this?  Because my subconscious decided that I wasnt allowed/deserved/ safe (or any other reason) to earn more than I did.  So it adjusted my situation so that the figure would be the same - yes your subconscious really is that powerful!  So I had to release my trauma, change my beliefs and then my money set point rose.  So even now if I suspect that my subconscious is trying to stop me earning more, I take a step back and look at what has come up.  Remember everything is in layers so although you think you may have cleared a certain belief or trauma another aspect may be displaying itself for healing.

So your subconscious will definately have a set point for your weight.  This again is based on trauma, beliefs, patterns and blocks.  This will also explain why you can't lose weight or if you lose weight you will put it back on virtually immediately.  The press is full of articles saying that people who have lost a lot of weight will put it back on because they go back to their old eating ways.  That is not true - if you have lost a lot of weight there is no way you would put it all back in three months.  You may put back a few pounds but not everything.  This is because your subconscious realises that you are below your set point and will pull out all the stops to putting the weight back on - and it seems like you have no control over it and seem to be sleep walking through the entire time!  I know this because it has happened to me many times.

Also you may have worked on your set point but a trigger like sexual attention may send your subconscious into meltdown and it will reinstate the old set point virtually immediately - this has recently happened to a client of mine.

So can it be changed?  Yes of course it can!  Firstly you need to meditate and ask your subconscious what your set point is.  If you get no response imagine what it would be. 

1. Look and heal traumas that have made you fearful - death, accidents, sexual abuse/rape/attention
2. Look at patterns of using your weight so you dont have to do something
3. Look at your eating patterns and see how they relate to triggers and traumas
4. Look at what happened in your life from birth to 7 and see whether you were loved and nutured or what messages you were given about food.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a great way of starting to release all of the above and decrease your weight set point.  It is good to work on the traumas and patterns first before you start to put in the positive.  Or book an appointment with me...........

Why does your subconscious use weight as protection?

So I am now fully recovered from my hip operation and feel like a million dollars!  As I was ill on holiday and had an allergic reaction to some antibiotics I have also lost some more weight and was feeling really good about myself.  So I started to wear tighter fitting clothes, makeup and jewellry and I was getting loads of compliments!!  So what happened - suddenly I went from not eating to uncontrollably eating everything in sight - horror shock horror.  I never do this and it makes me feel out of control, a pig and that I will put back all my weight.

So after a day when I realised I could do something to stop this, I did a session on myself and guess what I found?  My subconscious had gone into panic mode, didnt feel safe and was trying to pack the weight back on again!  I thought I had cleared all of this as I have been working on this for years and managed to get down to a UK size 18 which I was quite happy with - or rather my subconscious was happy with!

When I was three I was sexually abused which first lead to my weight problem.  As an adult I lost weight and was very attractive and received masses amount of attention from men.  I also had a few date rape episodes ..... I travelled a lot for work and it was so bad that you couldnt even go down for dinner.  When I was working in Mexico for two months one day I had 30 hits from men (my colleague and I compared notes every day!).  So you can see why I then put the weight back on and why my subconscious went into melt down the minute I started to get compliments.

I am still working through this as safety is a very strong survival issue and the subconscious takes some healing to release it.  But now I am hopeful that I will get down to a 16.

Why excess weight is nothing to do with overeating

Hi everyone

So do you have trouble losing weight?  I have for years - I was 12lb when I was born and have lived on a diet ever since!  It was when I visited a therapist who did 'muscle testing' and she asked my body if I wanted to lose weight and I couldn't believe it when my body replied "NO"!  I have now spent 20 years working out why I don't want to and I have lost masses of weight/water but have a couple of stone to go.  But I am now convinced that I am on the right track and I want to share my knowledge with you!

One of the main reasons that people are overweight is that they don't feel safe.  This could be because they were abused or raped or that when they were slim they received masses of unwelcome male attention which made them feel unsafe.  This is quite a difficult pattern to reverse because your subconscious's main concern is your safety.

You may feel unsafe in your area or in the world with everything that is happening.  Your subconscious may add weight to make you feel safe.  Of course this doesn't work so we have to change your subconscious's beliefs that making you fat and miserable is not protecting you from terrorism!

When you were slim before you may have got pregnant, or divorced or another trauma so your subconscious is keeping the weight on so this doesnt happen again.

For all those people who have lost a lot of weight and put it back on again we know that that is not due to what we are eating.  Having dieted, exercised and worked on our beliefs we wouldn't go back to eating and put the weight on in a couple of months!  The reason the weight goes back on again (and you seem helpless to stop it) is that your subconscious has just realised what has happened and it doesn't like it so it slaps the weight back on as quickly as possible!  Not very helpful from our point of view but it is for your subconscious.

Excess weight is more than just overeating - I starved myself for years so my subconscious filled my body with excess water which I couldnt get rid of.  It was only when I worked on myself, my fears and my beliefs that the weight started to come off!

You don't have to live with PTSD now - you just need to find the right therapy

Post traumatic stress disorder is becoming one of the most serious problems of our time.  Caused by a serious trauma such as war, rape, abuse or an accident, it puts the body into the "flight or fright" mode permanently causing stress.  The sufferer can't sleep, can't eat and can't funtion.  Because people can't see what is going on, they are not always sympathetic and doctors and consultants prescibe medicine which is not always the answer.

Recently the Speakmans, who do a therapy similar to mine, worked for a man who had been involved in the 7/7 bombings and couldn't go out of the house.  The consultants had told him that he would never be cured - in one day he was able to revisit the underground where the trauma had happened.  ISN'T THAT AMAZING.

In my practice I use techniques such as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Tapas Accupuncture Technique (TAT) + homeopathy and I am getting fantastic results.  Because trauma is stored in the body and needs to be released, techniques like counselling and CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) don't work full time - they give you tools to cope not to remove completely.

The beauty of EFT and TAT is that the client (or you) can do it anytime and any place - if they feel emotions coming up, anxiety, fear or in need of "putting in" something positive.  Again the beauty of EFT and TAT is that not only does it release the negative patterns and trauma, but it puts in the positive such as self esteem, self confidence and self value.

Obviously the trauma that causes the PTSD happened - nothing can change that.  But what can change is your feelings and attitude towards it.  Are you frightened about going in a car after an accident?  Do you have survivors guilt because you lived and others died?  Do you still relive the rape or your best friend being shot and killed next to you?  These feelings are released gently so you feel safe again and can live normally.

PTSD has an adverse affect on your adrenals which control your stress levels.  The more stressed you become the more the rest of your body is affected.  You may turn to alcohol or drugs to numb out the feelings, you may eat junk food or start self harming.  As part of the treatment this stress needs to be addressed and your adrenals healed as well.  Stress can make you really ill by causing cancer, heart problems and other life limiting illnesses.  The more you can calm yourself and your body down, the healthier you will become.

Do you really want to lose weight? I bet you dont!!

I was 12lb when I was born and I then suffered with being overweight most of my life.  When I reached puberty I really whacked it on and then suffered with 3 weeks pms water retention a month so never lost weight again!  My mother had me on a diet from the minute I was born and as soon as she could, she got me on an exercise routine.  I remember spending hours on a chair doing leg exercises (because I had fat legs apparently!) and was made to run up and down stairs.  Nothing shifted the weight which made my mother even worse!!  Everything I ate was analysed and I was made to feel a freak.

I did lose weight a couple of times (I now know why as I had to attract my husband and various jobs) and when I was slim I was gorgeous and attractive.  So suddenly I was made redundant and the weight started to pack on - but not for the reason you think which would be to do with overeating. 

My subconscious had decided that I was too attractive and that it was only a matter of time before I left my husband and ran off with somebody else and that I wasnt safe.  So it took me out of a male situation and I ended up with my own beauty salon!  I then spent 17 years trawling from therapist to therapist and spending a fortune to find out why I couldnt lose weight.  It was only when I met somebody who would diagnose using muscle testing that she told me THAT I DIDNT WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT!  Well you could have knocked me over with a feather as I would have denied this.  But it just shows that you dont know what your subconscious is doing to you - and we are 95% subconscious!  So then I had to start investigating why:

1. I had been sexually abused from the ages of 3 to 6 and didnt want to be a woman - hence the weight on when I reached puberty
2. I didnt feel safe when I was slim as I was attractive and got too much attention
3. I had had various rapes/date rapes and was worried this was going to happen again
4. I had died of starvation/thirst in various past lives and this was causing me to hang onto the water and weight in this life.  I felt I wouldnt survive if I lost the weight

There were lots of other reasons but by god it took some shifting!!  If your subconscious doesnt want you to do something it can take a long time believe me! But I can now shift this for you so dont suffer in silence anymore!

How sexual abuse can cause your thyroid to fail so you gain weight

I was 12lb when I was born!  For the next few years I had various illnesses but didnt lose weight.  When I got to puberty the weight really went mad and nothing I did made any difference - my mother was a fanatic and made my life a misery!  The more I tried the bigger I got.  When I was older I was subject to a few date rapes and one particularly nasty one when I was trying to get home because my father was dying and accepted a lift from a friend of a friend who wouldnt let me off his bus until I had had sex with him - my view of men was at rock bottom.  So when I managed to loose a bit of weight I was travelling the world working and having to stay in hotels.  This caused me further problems as I would have men knocking on my door, trying to pick me up in hotel corridors or airports and couldnt even go down for dinner because of the pickups so had to eat in my room.  I worked in Mexico for 6 weeks and my friend and I kept score and one day I had 30 hits!!  So by now I was really fed up with men and this is when the weight started to go back on as I didnt want all this attention from men.

When I did reiki 18 years ago (I had managed to lose weight through starving, slimming and water pills, laxatives, homeopathy and 3 hours of exercise a day!), I suddenly swelled up with water.  A lot of this was to do with past lives that I talk about in my blog, but I discovered I had been sexually abused from 3 to 6 and then again at 8.  What I discovered was that I had added the weight as protection against men (therefore abuse) as when I was slim I was very attractive and had men slobbering over me!  Because my subconscious knows that I would starve until the weight came off (I lived on 150 calories for 7 years!) it decided to lower my already dodgy thyroid and pack water on which I couldnt lose what ever I did.  I consulted loads of therapies and when I put on more weight (I got thrown out of slimming world and weight watchers for putting on weight!) they blamed me and overeating - believe me I wasnt!  I spent over £250,000 as sexual abuse is very difficult to heal as the inner child and the soul are broken and need a lot of work and patience.  If your subconscious doesnt feel safe it will do EVERYTHING IT CAN TO KEEP YOU SAFE and weight it thinks is one of the best ways.  Unfortunately we know it isnt so the first thing we have to do is retrain the subconscious.

Past lives that can affect your weight today

I have talked about having starved in past lives and how that affects you now giving you the starvation gene.  But there are many other past lives that can cause you to have a weight problem:

1. You were over fed as being large was seen as being very wealthy in Africa and in the South Pacific
2. You had jobs that required you to be overweight - fat lady in the circus or a sumo wrestler
3. You took food and money from people so you are being paid back with a weight problem
4. You poked fun at people who were overweight or disabled
5. You carry the genes from a race where they have a weight problem - South pacific, New Zealand
6. You were ill in a past life that caused a weight problem that you have brought into this life to be healed (thyroid, poisoning, water retention etc.)
7. You were very attractive, raped or abused and this will cause you to add weight in this life so you dont get the attention of the opposite sex

One of the main past lives that are fuelling the obesity crisis is the Holocaust.  Because millions of people starved to death they have bought this gene into this life so that the Holocaust memories and trauma can be healed once and for all - and this is good for the planet and everybody on it.  It will help lift Mother Earth higher on its spiritual path.
